Week 7 – Faithfulness

Week 7 – Faithfulness – the habit that earns respect

Faithful means steady, reliable, trusted, dependable and loyal.   Faith speaks of what we believe, but faithfulness speaks of how much we believe in it.    Faithfulness is important to our relationships as it produces a high-trust low-fear relationship.   Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek his will in all you do and He will direct your paths”

To develop faithfulness try this:

1. Decide whose you are.  Who you belong to.  You belong to God.   1 Corinthians 6:19 “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?”

2. Realize you are accountable to God and that one day you will have to give an account for what you did with what he gave you.

3. Make a commitment to live by God’s standards and morality.  Make a decision to fully honor your marriage vows.  Colossians 3:5 “Put to death, therefore, what ever belongs to your earthly nature:  sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry”

4.  Make a decision to do your best at your job or at school as God has told you to do.  Ephesians 6:7-8 “Work with enthusiasm, as though you are working for the Lord rather than people.  Remember that the Lord will reward each of us for the good we do”

5. Be willing to admit wrong and correct your mistakes. 1 John 1:9 “But if we confess our sins to Him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong”

6. Live for God consistently.  Live in God’s word everyday.  Choose your friends wisely.  1 Corinthians 15:33 “Bad company corrupts good character”
