Serenity Prayer

This is what I opened my eyes to this morning.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.

Share Your World – Week 12

What is your most favorite smell/scent?

My favorite scent is lavender.   I had a relaxing aromatherapy massage today and went with lavender.  It absolutely amazing!  My favorite perfume back in the day was Happy by Clinique.   Nowadays it is Poppy by Coach.

How do you write: computer, longhand or other?

I doodle and take notes in longhand.  When I think of something catchy I write it down.   I write on the computer or on my phone.   I have been trying to read more blogs on the computer because you get so much more from the WordPress Blogs when you view them on a laptop.  For example, my sister blog Every Day in 2014 has music when you read the blogs, you can’t get the full effect when you view it on the app on your phone.

Your favorite blog post that you have written? (add link)

Probably the one I started with:   For Mom or wait, maybe The Proposal  Help me decide:

What’s one of your favorite books from childhood?

Sigh.  This keeps coming up.  I don’t remember reading a lot or being read to much when I was a child.   One of my favorite stories I read to my boys is a book called “Love you Forever” by Robert Munsch.   My favorite books were those written by Judy Blume (Deenie was the best!), the Nancy Drew / Hardy Boys mysteries and of course the Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder.   Am I aging myself here?

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I’m grateful for my sanity and a somewhat smooth week at work.  I’m looking forward to a little getaway to New Orleans with my bestie next weekend!

US Postal Service

I think if we had postage stamps that looked like this more people would check their mail.

Where’d My Ball Go?

20140308_142716I watched her, as she hid under the slide covering her ball up with the bark in our community park.   I wondered what she was doing, but I didn’t ask any questions.

20140308_142742 “Hey Grammo!  Have you seen my Princess ball?  I can’t find it?”  Let’s look for it.   It has to be somewhere around here.  Oh, the look on her face and her sense of accomplishment when she “found” her ball.

The innocence is so simple yet so amazing.

Share Your World – Week 11

If you were an ice cream cone how many scoops and flavors would you be and why? Well for starters I would not be a cone, I would be a cup. I have always had sensitive teeth and could never bite into an ice cream cone. Having said that I would have to go with banana split for the flavor. Has it all wrapped up into one tiny little scoop! The only thing missing is the peanut butter. Yummy!
image Are you left or right handed? I’m in my right mind so that makes me left handed. We make up only 10 percent of the population. It is also said we are more creative. Embarrass easily. Anger quickly. Are over achievers. And are prone to psychosis. Go figure. I guess its a good thing I do alot with my right hand too. I will keep you guessing. Oh…and we have a national day of celebration. Haha. Too funny.

Before making a phone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say? Yes, but it never comes out the way it was rehearsed. Never. Remember when:

How many rings before you answer the phone? I never answer my phone. I just use it as a blogging tool 🙂

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? I am very grateful for having some time off work last week during spring break. And I’m looking forward to a dinner social we have at church on Friday.

Happy Post Challenge – Festival of Colors

Hmmm.  I am not Indian so I am not very familiar with the Happy Holi or Holi Festival and what its all about.    I live in a community that is multi-cultural and  I was a bit intrigued and googled it so I could learn a little more.   Rather than post some off the wall “colorful” photo relating to something that I know absolutely nothing about, I will go a different direction with this post and write about something happy, that somewhat relates to India and produced this colorful photo.

I recently took my granddaughter to see Sesame Street Live.    It was just a girl date.  Her and I.   The theme for the show was “meet a new friend”.   We got to meet Chamki from India.  The show was wonderful.  We learned some new words and sang some new songs. And made beautiful memories.

Share Your World – Week 10

Describe yourself in a word that starts with the first letter of your name.

Marvelous. Magnificent. Maniac.
Menace. Merciless. Merry. Moralistic.
One for every day of the week.
Not necessarily in the order.

If 100 people your age were chosen at random,
how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours?

Perhaps 10.
I am at a point in my life where I am satisfied.
Except on those days when I am not.

If you were a tree, would you become a book or furniture? Please describe.

Most definitely a book.
I would want someone’s hands all over me.
While seeking a world of knowledge.

You are trapped in an elevator, who would you want to be trapped with?
NBA: Finals-Miami Heat at San Antonio Spurs

Manu Ginobili.
No other words needed here …
just shaking my head back and forth 🙂

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week,
and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I’m so grateful for being able to spend
the day with my Granddaughter.

hgl96And looking very forward to being on
vacation for the rest of the week!
